Cazenovia Art Trail - North Sea Workshop

On September 30th and October 1st join us in on of our favorite annual events -- The Cazenovia Art Trail! We are so blessed to live in a community that supports and celebrates artists for their contributions to culture! This weekend we are able to peek behind the curtain and stop into their studios (where all the magic happens!) To get all the details about the weekend, visit https://art-trail.org and for a downloadable copy of the map, visit https://art-trail.org/maps.html.

One of many featured artist and craftsman of the weekend is Brittany & Greyson Barr of North Sea Workshops!

Having met in Washington State while both serving on active duty, Greyson (Grey) and Brittany Barr had a shared love for adventure and entrepreneurship. They decided to take their combined 18 years military experience and try their hand at achieving a lifelong dream of following their passions professionally. Both Grey and Brittany have a shared love for history and heritage.

Grey grew up in his family's Scottish restaurant, the Brae Loch Inn, looking up to 3 generations of hard-working small business owners and their families. He grew up admiring the history of his Scottish, Irish and Nordic roots. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army, graduating the United States Military Academy at West Point with a dual major bachelor's degree in international relations and Russian Language. He also completed Expert Infantryman Training, Airborne, Air Assault, and Ranger school. After the military he held a variety of civilian leadership careers that were rewarding but not fulfilling. This is when he made it his life goal to follow his passions and entrepreneurial aspirations over the corporate grind. Over the years Grey has dedicated his life to learning his ancestor’s old-world techniques for woodworking, blacksmithing, and craftsmanship and had a drive to follow it. His wife, Brittany, comes from a Germanic background and is also highly influenced by her time stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania, Brittany developed an appreciation for antiques and old-world style of craftsmanship while exploring the home of her grandfather, George Kieffer. His basement and attic were playgrounds for the imagination, as well as a key stepping stone towards her love for tinkering. She spent much of her childhood asking for her father’s scrap wood pile and hand tools and has been in love with woodworking since. Her spirit of adventure and determination is what made this company a reality. Brittany brings a love for fine arts, intricate detailing, and a Nordic style of design to the business. Her focus is primarily on pyrography, custom engraving, and leading the artistic design work for the business.

Together, Grey and Brittany make a well-rounded workshop capable of producing intricate wood, iron, leather, and other products for your home and future adventures.
