Find Your Fearless Moment with 261 Fearless: Every Monday, 6pm at Lakeland Park

In 1967, Kathrine Switzer made history by defying the odds and running the Boston Marathon, despite facing discrimination and hostility simply because she was a woman. Her iconic bib number, 261, symbolizes her fearless spirit and determination to break barriers. Today, her legacy lives on through 261 Fearless, a global non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women through running and education.

The 261 Fearless Movement 261 Fearless was founded by Kathrine Switzer and Edith Zuschmann in 2015, with a mission to empower women of all ages and backgrounds to discover their inner strength and confidence through running. The organization offers a supportive and inclusive community where women can come together to pursue their fitness goals, build self-esteem, and overcome challenges.

Our Core Values At the heart of 261 Fearless are core values that guide our programs and initiatives:

  • Women's Empowerment: We believe in the power of education and support to help women realize their full potential.

  • Fearlessness: We encourage women to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new challenges with courage and determination.

  • Inclusivity: Our community welcomes women of all abilities, backgrounds, and identities, fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance.

Empowering Women Through Running Through our programs and initiatives, 261 Fearless empowers women in several ways:

  • Club Leadership Training: We provide training and support for women interested in starting and leading their own 261 Clubs, creating local communities of support and encouragement.

  • Coach Education: Our coaches receive comprehensive training in women's running and leadership, equipping them with the skills to inspire and motivate others.

  • Public Education: We raise awareness about women's health and fitness, debunking myths and providing valuable information to empower women to lead active lifestyles.

  • Community Support: Our global network of clubs offers women a sense of belonging and connection, breaking down barriers and fostering friendships that extend beyond the track or trail.
