This time of year is truly a fan favorite among locals and visitors for Cazenovia! The celebration of America's birthday weekend brings an abundance of exciting activities and events that fill the town and its surroundings with vibrant energy and joy. To help you and your families make the most of this special time, we have put together a list of our top suggestions. Whether you're a local or a visitor, these recommendations are sure to enhance your celebration and ensure you have an unforgettable time in Cazenovia! 


Wednesday July 3rd


Teddy Bear Parade:

Join us for the Teddy Bear Parade on the Wednesday before the 4th of July! This delightful event kicks off at Cannon Park, where families and their favorite teddy bears will gather to start the parade. We’ll then make our way through the town, creating a joyful procession that ends at the library.


Once we arrive at the library, the fun continues with a delicious hot dog picnic, perfect for enjoying a summer day. After everyone has had their fill, we’ll dive into a variety of craft activities designed for all ages. Children can unleash their creativity and make special mementos to remember this fun-filled day.


This event is a wonderful way for families to spend time together and celebrate the spirit of the holiday. Bring your teddy bears, your enthusiasm, and your love for community fun. We can't wait to see you there!


Thursday July 4th!


8 am : 51st Annual July 4th Foot Races 

Want to get a workout in before the festivities? Join us for the races! All races start near Cazenovia High School, with options for every level of runner. The 5K, 10 Mile, and One Mile courses are each USATF Certified.

The 5K race begins on Emory Street, proceeds to Sullivan, Ridge, Glenwood, and then onto East Lake Road, finishing in Lakeland Park. The Fun Run, perfect for younger participants and families, starts and finishes near the school. The 10 Mile race makes an initial loop through the village, heads north on East Lake Road, and takes a counter-clockwise loop around Cazenovia Lake, finishing in Lakeland Park.

This event is a fantastic way to kick off the holiday celebrations with some exercise and community spirit. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for some family-friendly fun, these races offer something for everyone. We hope to see you at the starting line!


8 am : Pancake breakfast 

Join us for a Cazenovia tradition - a delightful breakfast at Lakeland Park, hosted by the Cazenovia Rowing Club. Their menu features Plain, Blueberry, and Gluten-Free Pancakes served with Sausage, Juice, and Coffee.

Cost:

  • $10 for Adults

  • $6 for Children (ages 3-10)

  • $30 for Families (2 adults + 2 children)


Don't forget to bring some extra cash for our exciting raffle, showcasing prizes from local Cazenovia artists and businesses. You don't need to be present to win! We look forward to seeing you there for a morning of delicious food and community fun!


11 am: Swimming Areas Open 

Join us at Lakeland Park on July 4th for a day filled with fun and relaxation for the whole family! Lifeguards will be on duty starting at 11am, making it the perfect opportunity to break up the busy day with a refreshing dip in Cazenovia Lake. The sandy beach and safe swimming area make it ideal for families with young children to relax and play. In addition to swimming, the park offers plenty of space for picnicking, playing games, or just soaking up the sun. Bring a blanket and some snacks, and enjoy a leisurely lunch by the water. 


11:30 am: Cazenovia Community Band Concert

Cazenovia Community Band performs marches, medleys, and popular tunes at Memorial Park​ before the start of the parade!


12:30 PM: July 4th Parade

Get ready to join the fun! At 12:30, the excitement kicks off as the parade lines up right in front of the high school. Then, at 1 PM sharp, the festivities begin as the parade marches down Lincklaen St., spreading joy and cheer! Be sure to arrive early to snag a great spot and don't forget your lawn chair for maximum comfort as you enjoy the spectacle. And remember, roads will be closed in anticipation of the parade, so plan your route accordingly and get ready for an unforgettable celebration! See you there!


1:30-9PM: Art Sale at Carpenter Barn 

Following the 4th of July Parade, join us at the park to enjoy a display of fine arts, live music from various bands, and prepare for an evening of spectacular fireworks. Restored by CazArts, Carpenter’s Barn is a historic stone carriage house built in 1889. It now serves as the Community Arts Hall and houses six artist studios, offering art classes and hosting community arts events year-round.


5 PM -7 PM: Party Nuts Band with Dave Novak

Gather the whole family for a delightful evening at Lakeland Park! This public event welcomes everyone to bring their blankets and picnic baskets for a lakeside concert experience. Enjoy the music of talented performers while soaking up the park's picturesque scenery. It's a fantastic opportunity for all to come together and enjoy a memorable night out in the open air!


7 PM -9PM: Maria DeSantis Orchestra 

Extend the excitement after the Party Nuts Band performance by staying for the captivating melodies of the Maria DeSantis Orchestra. Let the soothing sounds of classical music set the stage for an unforgettable evening leading up to a dazzling fireworks display. So, grab your seats, settle in, and prepare to be transported on a journey of auditory and visual delight!


9 PM : Fireworks on Cazenovia Lake

Get ready for an unforgettable Fourth of July celebration at Lakeland Park! Join us as the Cazenovia Lions Club lights up the night sky with an incredible fireworks display that's sure to enchant the entire family. Bring your favorite lawn chairs and snuggle up with soft blankets for a front-row seat to the show. It's an evening of fun and excitement that will create lasting memories for you and your loved ones. Don't miss out on this spectacular event!


Friday July 5th - Sunday July 7th


The fun doesn't end after the fireworks! Reserve a room at one of our fabulous lodges and enjoy a long weekend in the village! Check out the pop up sales from local vendors and artisans along Albany St and don't miss the Farmer's Market on Saturday, July 6th from 9am-2pm!
